The National College “Johannes Honterus” is one of the oldest educational institutions in Romania. It was founded in 1541 by the German humanist and reformer in Transylvania, Johannes Honterus. If in the past it was meant to be a school for the German community, today it hosts mainly students coming from Romanian families. Our school comprises all the 3 main levels of education –primary- secondary- highschool and the language of instruction is German. Today, the school has over 1200 students, aged 6 – 19 years and 90 teachers. The high school is structured on 2 profiles: Natural Sciences with emphasis on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and a Humanistic profile with focus on English, French, History and Geography.
